Tesla has launched a significant new incentive in Sweden, offering a 40,000 SEK discount on the entry-level Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive variant. This effectively functions as a manufacturer-funded electric vehicle bonus, bringing the base price of the popular all-electric crossover to a record low of approximately 459,900 to 459,990 SEK.

Aggressive Pricing Strategy Targets Volume Sales

The limited-time offer is valid for orders and deliveries placed by March 31, 2026. In addition to the price reduction, Tesla Sweden is also providing zero-interest financing as part of this promotional campaign. This move comes after Tesla introduced a new base Model Y version last fall, priced at 499,990 SEK. The latest incentive effectively pushes this model to under the 460,000 SEK mark, significantly enhancing its affordability.

Boosting Sales of Base Model Y

While the Model Y has consistently been Sweden’s top-selling electric vehicle and ranks third overall in new car registrations this year, most sales have comprised the higher-specification Premium and Performance trims. This new 40,000 SEK incentive is widely seen as Tesla’s strategic effort to boost demand for its more accessibly priced base Model Y variant within the Swedish market.

Leasing Options Also Promoted

Tesla is also actively promoting private leasing options for the entry-level Model Y, with monthly payments set at 4,995 SEK. Industry observers in Sweden suggest that leasing may continue to be a more financially attractive option than outright purchase, even with the new discount applied.

Model Y Specifications and Efficiency

The base Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive boasts a WLTP range of 534 kilometers, a top speed of 201 km/h, and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.2 seconds. Its listed energy consumption is an efficient 13.1 kWh per 100 kilometers, making it the most economical version in the Model Y lineup and potentially contributing to lower long-term ownership costs.
