Orion Energy Systems has secured a $4 million contract to install 105 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations and associated infrastructure for the Boston Public School system.
Infrastructure Development for Fleet Electrification
The project will see Orion’s Voltrek division deploy 105 DC fast charging stations at the Freeport Bus Yard, a key facility for Boston Public Schools. These new charging units are distinguished by an innovative above-ground mounting system utilizing Jersey barriers.
Expanding EV Charging Network in the Northeast
Orion/Voltrek is actively involved in multiple fleet electrification projects across the Northeast. Their portfolio includes deployments for municipalities and school districts looking to transition to electric vehicles. Previously, the company installed 13 charging stations for the Lower Pioneer Valley School Educational Cooperative, which serves the Greater Springfield, Massachusetts region.
Commitment to Reliable EV Charging Solutions
Sally Washlow, CEO of Orion, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership: “Orion/Voltrek is proud to be a reliable long-term provider of EV charging, infrastructure and maintenance to Boston Public Schools, one of the most innovative public school districts in America. Fleet managers increasingly rely on Orion/Voltrek to deliver the quality, reliability and scalability that enterprise fleet managers require.”
