Geely Australia has rolled out a series of attractive incentives for its EX5 Extended Range electric SUV, aiming to sustain sales momentum and enhance its market appeal. The new offers include a competitive 1.88% comparison rate finance offer and a complimentary 7 kW home charger for eligible new vehicle purchases.
Enhanced Range and Value Proposition
This latest sales push follows a recent $2,500 cashback campaign and coincides with the introduction of the upgraded EX5 Extended Range model. The enhanced model now boasts an impressive WLTP range of up to 475 km, a significant improvement from its previous 430 km range.
The attractive finance and charger offer is valid for new, in-stock EX5 vehicles purchased before March 31, 2026. The included AC home wall charger is a 7 kW single-phase unit. While the charger will be supplied with the vehicle, installation costs are not covered.
According to Geely’s official website, the EX5 Extended Range now offers “up to 475km WLTP range, 1.88% p.a. Comparison Rate with No Deposit for a 36-Month Term. Plus Free EV Home Charger*. Offer Ends 31 March 2026.” This enhancement comes with a modest $1,000 price increase across both the Complete and Inspire variants of the Geely EX5.
Variant-Specific Range Improvements
The battery upgrade translates to a tangible increase in driving range for both EX5 variants. The entry-level Geely EX5 Complete now achieves a maximum range of 475 km, marking a 45 km increase. The more performance-oriented EX5 Inspire variant also sees its range extended to 450 km, an improvement of 40 km.
Geely’s Commitment to Customer Needs
Alex Gu, CEO at Geely Auto Australia, expressed his enthusiasm for the battery upgrade. “I’m thrilled to announce the battery upgrade to the Geely EX5,” he stated. “This model has continued to evolve to meet customer needs through software refinements, and is now further value enhanced with extended range and new standard inclusions.”
Advanced Battery Technology and Safety
The improved battery performance is attributed to Geely’s proprietary Short Blade battery technology. This technology has undergone rigorous testing, including the company’s stringent “Devil’s Test.” This comprehensive safety and durability evaluation subjects the battery to extreme conditions, such as immersion in corrosive seawater, extreme temperatures, high-frequency impacts, heavy load crushing (equivalent to 26 tonnes), side collisions, and direct exposure to open flame.
Charging Capabilities and Vehicle-to-Load Functionality
The EX5 Extended Range supports rapid DC charging, enabling a 30% to 80% charge in approximately 20 minutes, with peak charging speeds of 100 kW. For users with access to a three-phase power source, 11 kW AC charging is also available.
Furthermore, the vehicle offers vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality, allowing it to discharge power at a rate of up to 3.3 kW, adding a practical dimension for powering external devices or appliances.
Market Performance and Competitive Landscape
Geely made its debut in the Australian market with the EX5 SUV in March 2025. In the 12 months since its launch, the company reports having sold over 5,000 vehicles locally. In 2025, the EX5 was recognized among the top-5 best-selling electric vehicles in the Australian market.
Throughout the past year, Geely has strategically employed various incentives, including free charging offers and significant cashbacks, to drive sales and maintain strong market volumes. The current promotional offers for the updated EX5 underscore the increasing competition within the mid-size electric SUV segment.
Industry analysts anticipate that competition in this segment will intensify as new electric models are introduced to the market in the coming months. The Driven plans to conduct a comprehensive review of the updated EX5 Extended Range in the near future to assess its performance against competitors.
