Berlin-based Minespider, a firm specializing in traceability solutions, has officially launched Recircle.market, a new digital platform aimed at streamlining the electric vehicle (EV) battery reuse, refurbishment, and recycling sectors. The marketplace connects companies involved throughout the entire battery lifecycle.
Facilitating Trade and Data Transparency
Recircle.market allows users to list and trade second-life EV batteries, complete with verified technical specifications and historical lifecycle data. It also facilitates the sourcing of recycled battery materials and components. Furthermore, the platform connects users with essential service providers for activities such as testing, diagnostics, logistics, dismantling, and certification. The user base includes original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), battery suppliers, recycling companies, and service providers.
Leveraging Digital Battery Passports
A core feature of the marketplace is its integration with Digital Battery Passports (DBPs). These passports provide transparent access to critical information about a battery’s origin, chemical composition, performance history, and overall health status. With the forthcoming EU Battery Regulation mandating DBPs from February 2027, Minespider’s platform is designed to utilize this data. The company anticipates this will significantly enhance trust and reduce transaction costs within what has historically been a fragmented market.
Building the Circular Battery Economy
Volker Krümpel, co-founder and general counsel at Minespider, stated, “With Recircle.market, we are building the digital backbone for Europe’s circular battery economy—connecting data, materials and market actors in one interoperable ecosystem.”
The current iteration of the platform is an MVP (Minimum Viable Product) that was developed as part of the EU-funded RECIRCULATE project. Minespider plans to evolve the platform further based on industry feedback and emerging regulatory requirements.
