Renault Australia has officially unveiled the new all-electric Scenic E-Tech at the recent Melbourne Everything Electric show, confirming pricing and ordering details for the Australian market. Glen Sealey, General Manager of Renault Australia, announced the introduction of the award-winning electric vehicle as part of the company’s plan to introduce six new or updated models over the next 18 months.
Revitalised Model Lineup
The Scenic E-Tech marks a significant departure from its predecessors. While the original Scenic, popular in the late 1990s to late 2000s, was a practical, petrol-powered wagon, the new model is a completely redesigned, electric-only crossover SUV. This all-new Scenic E-Tech, with ‘E-Tech’ denoting its Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) status, was launched in Europe in late 2023.
Australian Variants and Pricing
In Australia, the Scenic E-Tech will be available in two trims: ‘techno’ and ‘esprit Alpine’.
Techno Trim Options
- 60 kWh Battery: This configuration features a 125 kW motor, offering a WLTP driving range of up to 430 km. It is priced at $60,522 drive-away and includes heated seats and steering wheel, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12-inch control touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
- 87 kWh Battery: For an additional cost of approximately $4000 ($64,690 drive-away), this long-range version upgrades to an 87 kWh battery and a more powerful 160 kW/300 Nm motor, extending the WLTP range to up to 625 km.
Esprit Alpine Trim
The ‘esprit Alpine’ version, priced around $6000 more than the long-range Techno model, exclusively features the larger 87 kWh battery and 160 kW motor. This top-tier trim adds 20-inch wheels with lower profile tyres (compared to the 19-inch wheels on the techno), an upgraded Harmon Kardon 9-speaker sound system, and electric front seats. The interior boasts an ‘Alpine themed’ design, which overseas markets have seen include sports seats with blue stitching and Alpine badging, a fabric dashboard, an Alpine-badged steering wheel, and blue accents throughout the cabin.
Key Features and Technology
All Scenic E-Tech models come standard with steering wheel paddles to adjust regenerative braking levels. Luggage space is practical, offering 545 litres with rear seats up (under the parcel shelf) and expanding to 1670 litres with the rear seats folded down. Standard features across all variants include over-the-air software updates, MyRenault App connectivity, and an embedded Google system enabling voice control for up to 70 functions, extending beyond infotainment to other car systems.
Charging Capabilities
AC charging supports up to 11 kW. DC fast charging capabilities reach up to 130 kW for the 60 kWh battery models and up to 150 kW for the 87 kWh versions.
Warranty and Service Information
Renault is offering a 5-year/100,000 km warranty on the Scenic E-Tech. The battery is covered by an 8-year/160,000 km warranty (guaranteeing at least 70% state of health). A complimentary 5-year 24/7 roadside assistance package is included. The recommended service interval is either 1 year or 30,000 km, whichever comes first.
Arrival Timeline
Deliveries of the new Renault Scenic E-Tech are anticipated to commence in late 2025 or early 2026. The top-of-the-range Renault Scenic Esprit Alpine is slated to lead the local rollout.
