Tesla’s highly anticipated Cybertruck All-Wheel-Drive configuration has experienced another shift in its estimated delivery timeline, with new orders now projected for April 2027. This marks the second adjustment to the delivery schedule, pushing prospective buyers further into the future.

Shifting Delivery Estimates

According to Tesla’s Online Design Studio, customers placing orders for the All-Wheel-Drive Cybertruck from this point forward will face an estimated delivery in April 2027. While existing orders are still slated for early summer, the extended waiting period for new orders suggests a significant surge in interest for this specific trim.

This latest revision follows a previous update just three days prior, which moved the delivery estimate from June 2026 to early Fall. The current projection to April 2027 indicates a substantial increase in the demand-supply gap.

Indications of Robust Demand

The repeated deferral of delivery dates for the new Cybertruck trim points to one of two primary factors: either a constrained production capacity or exceptionally high consumer demand. Tesla’s apparent intention to adjust pricing for the Cybertruck based on demand, with a price hike scheduled for March 1st, strongly suggests that the electric vehicle manufacturer perceives an overwhelming interest in this particular configuration.

This suggests that the current pricing of $59,990 for the Dual Motor All-Wheel-Drive model is considered a compelling offer, leading to a rapid turnover of available units. While not officially confirmed, the scenario leans towards demand significantly outpacing production capabilities.

Cybertruck Dual Motor AWD: Key Features and Pricing Dynamics

The Dual Motor All-Wheel-Drive Cybertruck, priced at $59,990 before the impending increase, offers a compelling package of features. These include an estimated 325 miles of range, a powered tonneau cover, bed outlets (2x 120V + 1x 240V) with Powershare capability, a coil spring suspension with adaptive damping, heated first-row seats with easy-to-clean textile material, steer-by-wire technology, four-wheel steering, a 6’ x 4’ composite bed, a towing capacity of up to 7,500 lbs, and a powered front trunk (frunk).

Notably, this introductory price point remains competitive, closely aligning with Tesla’s initial pricing announcements for the Cybertruck in late 2019. The impending price adjustment on March 1st means that February 28th is the final day to secure the Cybertruck at its current $59,990 price.

Contextualizing Price Adjustments and Features

Tesla’s strategy of a limited-time introductory price has drawn mixed reactions. While the company positions it as a response to market demand, some consumers have expressed dissatisfaction with the short notice for a price increase, particularly after initial marketing communications did not specify a limited-time offer.

The All-Wheel-Drive configuration is positioned below the Premium All-Wheel-Drive model, which retails for $79,990. Key differences include enhanced towing capacity (11,000 lbs for Premium vs. 7,500 lbs for base), upgraded interior materials with Vegan Leather seats (vs. textile), a more robust sound system (15 speakers vs. 7), and the absence of adjustable ride height on the base model, although it does feature an adaptive damping suspension.

Active Noise Cancellation Feature

In related Cybertruck news, Tesla is preparing to activate the long-awaited Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) feature. This feature, already present in the Model S and Model X, utilizes onboard hardware that has been installed in delivered Cybertrucks since November 2023.

While the hardware is in place, the ANC functionality has remained disabled. Tesla’s Service Toolbox has indicated that the software is not yet enabled, despite the physical components being integrated. The system is designed to detect and cancel low-frequency road noise using embedded microphones, aiming to create a quieter cabin environment.

The ANC system in the Cybertruck, while similar in concept to that in the Model S and Model X, uses four microphones compared to the six found in the sedan and SUV. The delay in activation is reportedly attributed to the Cybertruck’s unique design, including its all-terrain tires and aluminum chassis construction, which may present unique acoustic challenges requiring further software refinement.

It is important to note that this Active Noise Cancellation feature is not expected to be available on the recently released Dual Motor All-Wheel-Drive configuration.

Elon Musk’s Pricing Clarification

CEO Elon Musk recently provided clarification on his earlier statement suggesting a 10-day window for the Cybertruck’s $59,990 price. Musk explained that the price would indeed fluctuate, stating, “Depends on how much demand we see at this price level.”

This approach has sparked debate among fans. Some view it as a logical market-driven strategy, allowing Tesla to gauge demand and adjust pricing accordingly. Others criticize the communication as counterproductive, arguing that the short 10-day window, coupled with the announcement of a price increase, may artificially inflate initial demand as consumers rush to secure the lower price.

Critics also suggest that such a dynamic pricing strategy, especially for a significant purchase like a truck, could have been communicated more transparently from the outset, perhaps integrated directly into the website’s pricing information without the need for external commentary.
