Tesla is bringing its AI-powered assistant, Grok, to its vehicles across Europe, marking a significant expansion for the technology developed by Elon Musk’s xAI.

Initial Rollout in Nine European Markets

The electric vehicle manufacturer confirmed the rollout via its official Tesla Europe, Middle East & Africa account on X. The initial launch will encompass the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, France, Portugal, and Spain. Tesla indicated that additional markets are expected to be added in the future.

Grok’s Capabilities for Drivers

Grok is designed to allow drivers to interact with the system using natural language, enabling them to ask questions that are answered with real-time information. The feature offers hands-free operation, enhancing convenience and safety while driving. According to Tesla’s support documentation, Grok can also manage navigation. Users can search for destinations, discover points of interest, and modify routes without needing to interact with the vehicle’s touchscreen.

The AI assistant features selectable personalities, including options like “Storyteller” and “Unhinged.” Activation is accessible either through the App Launcher or by a long press of the microphone button on the steering wheel.

Vehicle and Software Requirements

Currently, Grok is available on Model S, Model 3, Model X, Model Y, and Cybertruck vehicles equipped with an AMD infotainment processor. A minimum software version of 2025.26 is required, with navigation command functionality necessitating version 2025.44.25 or newer.

To utilize Grok, drivers must have Tesla’s Premium Connectivity subscription or a stable Wi-Fi connection. The company has clarified that Grok currently does not replace the standard voice commands used for vehicle controls such as climate or media adjustments.

Data Privacy and User Accounts

Tesla has emphasized that interactions with Grok are processed securely by xAI and are not linked to individual drivers or their vehicles. Users do not need a separate Grok account or subscription to access the feature at this time.
