André Thierig, the plant manager for Giga Berlin, shared an image of the banner on the social media platform X, formerly Twitter. He stated that the slogan encapsulates the core values the facility has upheld since commencing production in 2022 and represents its aspirations for the future.
“Our lobby at Giga Berlin covered in a huge banner these days. Progress. Innovation. Success – this is what we stand for since we started production in 2022 and how we will go into our future!” Thierig posted. The accompanying image clearly shows the slogan prominently displayed within the plant’s entrance area.

Allegations of Secret Recording
The conflict intensified when Tesla accused a representative of IG Metall of secretly recording a works council meeting held at the Giga Berlin facility. According to Tesla, the company filed a criminal complaint following the alleged incident. Authorities later confirmed that a computer belonging to an IG Metall member was seized as part of their investigation into the matter.
Thierig detailed the incident on X at the time: “What has happened today at Giga Berlin is truly beyond words! An external union representative from IG Metall attended a works council meeting. For unknown reasons he recorded the internal meeting and was caught in action! We obviously called police and filed a criminal complaint!”
Union Denials and Counter-Complaint
IG Metall has refuted Tesla’s accusations, characterizing the company’s actions as a strategic maneuver intended to influence upcoming works council elections. In response to the allegations and Thierig’s public statements, the union subsequently filed a defamation complaint against him.
