Zeekr, Geely’s premium electric vehicle brand, is making a significant statement in the European market with the launch of its new 7GT. This stylish electric wagon, based on the 007 sedan platform, is poised to redefine expectations, particularly with its groundbreaking charging capabilities, making it the fastest-charging EV on the continent.
The Zeekr 7GT boasts an impressive 800-volt architecture, enabling it to accept a peak charging rate of 480 kW. This cutting-edge technology allows the 7GT to replenish its battery from 10% to 80% in a mere 13 minutes when equipped with the 75-kilowatt-hour battery. Even the larger 100 kWh battery pack achieves the same 80% charge in just 16 minutes – a figure that eclipses all other EVs currently available in Europe. Zeekr further highlights the efficiency of its charging system, stating that a mere 10-minute charge can add an impressive 211 miles (340 km) of range, irrespective of the battery size.
Beyond its remarkable charging speed, the 7GT offers compelling performance. In its most potent dual-motor configuration, it can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in a rapid 3.3 seconds. The single-motor variant is no slouch either, achieving the same benchmark in 5.3 seconds. All models are electronically limited to a top speed of 130 mph (210 km/h).
Zeekr emphasizes the 7GT’s dynamic prowess, promising sharp handling and a composed ride. The company describes it as a ‘driver’s car,’ attributing its agility to precise steering, a balanced chassis, and intuitive feedback. While the European version has undergone specific tuning for the continent, our experience with the Chinese-spec 007 GT suggests a promising driving experience.
Aesthetically, the Zeekr 7GT adopts a design language developed in Sweden, specifically to resonate with European tastes. Unlike some contemporaries, its styling is understated and elegant, avoiding the ostentatious elements sometimes seen in the segment. This sophisticated European design is paired with a powertrain and charging infrastructure that, according to Zeekr, surpasses current European offerings.
While the 7GT’s range is competitive rather than class-leading, it still offers practical usability. Zeekr claims a WLTP range of up to 406 miles (655 km) for the single-motor rear-wheel-drive model. The base model with the 75 kWh battery is rated at 322 miles (519 km), and the all-wheel-drive version with the larger battery achieves 346 miles (558 km) on a full charge.
Pricing for the Zeekr 7GT begins at €45,990 for the Business Edition RWD model, which includes a €1,700 manufacturer discount. The Long Range Launch Edition RWD is priced at €50,990 (with a €2,400 discount), and the flagship Privilege AWD model costs €57,490 (with a €2,500 discount). All models are subject to a €1,000 delivery fee, and customer deliveries are slated to commence in July. European customers can place their orders for the Zeekr 7GT starting today.
