Blink Charging is set to significantly expand electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across Belgium through a strategic partnership with Korian Belgium, a prominent provider of elderly care services. The initiative will see Blink deploy more than 200 Blink-owned EV chargers at 90 Korian locations nationwide.
Nationwide EV Charging Rollout in Belgium
This ambitious project aims to enhance EV accessibility for employees, residents, visitors, and the general public at Korian’s facilities. The deployment is part of a larger strategy to integrate sustainable transportation solutions within communities.
The collaboration follows a successful model, with a similar EV charging network rollout also planned for Korian’s operations in the Netherlands, underscoring a commitment to broader European adoption of electric mobility.
Blink’s Fully Financed Investment Model
A key aspect of the agreement is Blink Charging’s fully financed investment model. This approach allows Korian to implement essential EV charging infrastructure without incurring any upfront capital expenditure. This removes a significant financial barrier for organizations looking to adopt sustainable practices.
Under this model, Blink Charging assumes complete responsibility for the entire lifecycle of the charging stations. This includes the initial installation, ongoing operation and management, regular maintenance, and comprehensive customer support.
In return for hosting the charging infrastructure, Korian facilities will benefit from a recurring revenue stream, transforming underutilized spaces into sources of income while contributing to environmental goals.
Accessible Charging for All Stakeholders
The newly installed charging stations will serve a diverse range of users. Korian employees will have convenient access to charge their vehicles during work hours, while residents and their families can benefit from charging facilities during visits.
The chargers will also be available to the public, further contributing to the growing public EV charging network in Belgium. This multi-faceted approach ensures maximum utilization and benefit from the deployed infrastructure.
Several charging stations have already been successfully installed and are operational at various nursing homes and Korian office locations across Belgium, marking the initial phase of the nationwide deployment.
Enhancing the Charging Experience
Chris Carr, Senior VP of Sales and Business Development for Blink Charging, expressed enthusiasm about the project’s potential. “With our smart charging technology, smooth user authentication and 24/7 customer support, we aim to provide drivers a high-quality charging experience at every location,” Carr stated.
Carr added, “We look forward to having the majority of the planned countrywide network for Belgium installed by the end of 2026.” This timeline highlights the scale and pace of the planned expansion.
Shared Vision for Convenience and Sustainability
Dominiek Beelen, CEO of Korian, emphasized the synergy between the two organizations. “By teaming with Blink and moving forward with our EV infrastructure goals, we reaffirm our shared mission to bring a heightened level of convenience to the families and employees at Korian locations, and surrounding residents,” Beelen remarked.
This partnership signifies Korian’s commitment to embracing sustainable technologies and enhancing the amenities offered at its care facilities, aligning with broader societal shifts towards electric mobility and environmental responsibility.
