Emerson has unveiled an upgraded iteration of its NI Nigel AI technology, integrated into the NI LabVIEW+ Suite. This latest version aims to significantly speed up the development of test projects by introducing advanced code completion and enhanced contextual awareness of local hardware and ongoing test configurations.
AI-Powered Assistance for Test Engineers
The updated Nigel AI now features a sophisticated code completion capability. During the development process, it offers engineers multiple suggestions for the next logical steps, enabling them to choose the most efficient option for their workflow and reducing programming time. Furthermore, Nigel AI has gained the ability to understand the context of NI LabVIEW projects, review NI TestStand sequences, and access local hardware information. This contextual awareness provides engineers with richer support, contributing to faster development cycles and improved accuracy in their testing procedures.
LabVIEW+ Suite Expands Capabilities
This release of the LabVIEW+ Suite also introduces several other key enhancements designed to support test engineers:
- Modernized user interfaces built with new web technologies for both LabVIEW and TestStand.
- Streamlined debugging workflows within LabVIEW, bolstered by superior integration with source code control systems.
- Support for containerization via Docker Desktop on Windows, which aims to enhance Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
Focus on Engineer Efficiency
Rudy Sengupta, VP and General Manager of NI Test and Analytics Software at Emerson, emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting engineers holistically. “We recognize that the role of an engineer is far more than just programming,” Sengupta stated. “That’s why we created the LabVIEW+ Suite, to serve test professionals in a more comprehensive and intuitive way. The suite lets engineers carry context, configurations and data with them as they switch from task to task, saving significant time and empowering them to focus on the most valuable parts of their role.”
