Polestar Unleashes Premium Electric Mountain Bike to Complement SUV Lineup

As automakers pivot towards becoming comprehensive mobility providers, the move into micromobility is a natural evolution, and Polestar is embracing it with a high-performance electric mountain bike.

Polestar, known for its sleek electric SUVs, is venturing further into the micromobility space with the launch of a sophisticated electric mountain bike. This collaboration with Swedish premium bicycle manufacturer Allebike aims to offer a seamless extension of the Polestar ownership experience, perfectly complementing their existing vehicle range.

Engineered for Performance and Style

The new Allebike Elize Polestar Engineered is a full-suspension electric mountain bike boasting 29-inch wheels. It features a robust carbon fiber-reinforced polymer frame that houses a powerful Shimano EP8 mid-drive motor. This motor delivers a peak output of 500 watts and an impressive 62.7 pound-feet (85 Nm) of torque, providing ample power for challenging terrains and steep ascents.

With 6.7 inches of suspension travel at the front and 6.3 inches at the rear, the bike is designed for exceptional comfort and control on rough trails. The substantial 750-watt-hour battery is among the largest available on the market, offering an estimated range of up to 60 miles on a single charge with pedal assist, ensuring riders can explore further without range anxiety.

A Fusion of Automotive and Cycling Excellence

While Polestar doesn’t manufacture the bike in-house, it has collaborated closely with Allebike to ensure the Elize model reflects the brand’s aesthetic and quality standards. The bike features Polestar branding in its signature script and incorporates gold accents, mirroring the design cues found in Polestar’s electric SUVs. The striking Polestar color scheme enhances its visual appeal, making it a statement piece, especially when seen mounted on the back of a Polestar 3, as showcased in official imagery.

Premium Pricing and Availability

This high-performance electric mountain bike comes with a premium price tag of €8,900 (approximately $9,900 USD). Deliveries will be handled by Allebike, and the bike is currently available exclusively within European Union countries and Switzerland.

Polestar’s Growing Micromobility Portfolio

This launch marks Polestar’s continued expansion into the micromobility sector. Previously, in 2021, the company introduced the Makka – Polestar edition, a compact electric moped developed with Swedish electric motorcycle manufacturer Cake. Designed for urban commuting, the Makka featured a 1.5 kWh battery, a top speed of 28 mph, and Öhlins suspension, retailing for €5,300 during its availability in 2021 and 2022.
