Elon Musk and Artificial Intelligence

xAI Secures Significant $3 Billion Investment from Saudi AI Firm HUMAIN Ahead of SpaceX Merger

Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence venture, xAI, has announced a substantial $3 billion investment from Saudi Arabian AI firm HUMAIN. This significant funding round, designated as Series E, arrives just weeks before xAI’s anticipated merger with Musk’s aerospace giant, SpaceX.

The strategic financial move by HUMAIN involves converting its stake in xAI into shares of SpaceX. This transaction is set to position the Saudi-backed technology firm as a considerable minority shareholder in the newly formed, combined entity.

This investment grants HUMAIN exposure to what is being characterized as one of the largest technology mergers on record. The deal is expected to fuse xAI’s advanced artificial intelligence capabilities with SpaceX’s extensive infrastructure, engineering prowess, and established scale.

Strategic Alignment and Future Prospects

Tareq Amin, CEO of HUMAIN, emphasized the strategic importance of the investment, stating, “This investment reflects HUMAIN’s conviction in transformational AI and our ability to deploy meaningful capital behind exceptional opportunities where long-term vision, technical excellence, and execution converge. xAI’s trajectory, further strengthened by its acquisition by SpaceX, one of the largest technology mergers on record, represents the kind of high-impact platform we seek to support with significant capital.”

The financial arrangement also presents HUMAIN with the potential for significant long-term equity appreciation, particularly if SpaceX decides to pursue a public offering in the future.

Expanding an Existing Partnership

This latest investment is an expansion of a partnership initially announced in November 2025 during the U.S.-Saudi Investment Forum. At that time, HUMAIN and xAI committed to a joint venture for the development of over 500 megawatts of next-generation AI data center and compute infrastructure within Saudi Arabia.

The collaboration further includes the deployment of xAI’s Grok AI models throughout the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This initiative aligns with the nation’s ambitious strategy to cultivate domestic artificial intelligence capabilities and attract leading global technology enterprises.

HUMAIN’s Evolving Role in the AI Landscape

HUMAIN, which benefits from backing by the Public Investment Fund, is actively positioning itself as a comprehensive player in the artificial intelligence sector. Its scope spans advanced data centers, robust cloud infrastructure, sophisticated AI models, and practical applied solutions.

This Series E investment marks a significant deepening of HUMAIN’s involvement, transitioning its role from a development partner to a major shareholder within the artificial intelligence and space technology platform spearheaded by Elon Musk.

The initial announcement of the investment was made on February 18, 2026, with further details emerging about the strategic implications for both xAI and SpaceX.
