MG has extended its “Summer Savings” offer, continuing to provide significant cashback incentives of up to $5,000 on select MG4 electric hatchback models. Initially announced for January 2026 purchases, the offer has now been prolonged until the end of February.

The extended summer savings have resulted in reduced driveaway prices for the MG4 lineup. Here are the updated prices:

  • MG4 51 kWh RWD Excite – $36,302 driveaway (reduced by $4,000)
  • MG4 64 kWh RWD Excite – $40,470 driveaway (reduced by $4,000)

  • MG4 64 kWh AWD X-power – $48,848 driveaway (reduced by $5,000)

MG4 EV Model Specifications

The entry-level MG4 variant is equipped with a 51 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery, offering a WLTP range of up to 350 km. This model features a rear-mounted 125 kW motor, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds. Standard features across all MG4 variants include vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality and compatibility with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The Excite and Essence models, powered by a 64 kWh battery, can achieve up to 450 km of range on a single charge, a substantial increase over the 51 kWh variant. The top-tier Essence 77 model boasts a 77 kWh battery pack, extending the range to an impressive 530 km per charge.

MG’s Comprehensive Warranty and Future Prospects

All MG4 models are supported by MG’s benchmark warranty program, which includes a 10-year or 250,000 km coverage. Earlier this year, MG introduced its refreshed 2026 MG4 EV in the UK market, featuring several enhancements expected to be rolled out to other markets. These updates may coincide with a return to standard pricing in Australia once the current cashback offer concludes.

Additionally, a new front-wheel-drive MG4 EV “Urban” model, designed with a more rounded aesthetic, is anticipated for the European market and has been observed undergoing testing in Australia. This variant is poised to become the brand’s more affordable electric hatchback offering.

Broader EV Market Trends

Recent price adjustments and special offers have also been observed from other electric vehicle manufacturers like Tesla, BYD, and Geely, contributing to increased interest in EV models available in Australia. The full impact of these January and February promotional periods on EV sales figures is expected to be reflected in upcoming data releases from the FCAI vFacts and EVC. Industry observers anticipate another strong year for electric vehicle sales in Australia.
