Record Tunnel Achieved
The Boring Company has announced a significant milestone in its Las Vegas transportation network, with its Prufrock-2 tunnel boring machine (TBM) successfully completing a new Vegas Loop tunnel. The company shared the update via its official account on the social media platform X.
Tunnel Specifications and Achievements
The newly completed tunnel measures an impressive 2.28 miles in length, establishing it as the longest single tunnel segment within the Vegas Loop system to date. This achievement surpasses the company’s previous internal record of 2.26 miles for a single Vegas Loop drive.
This new tunnel represents the fourth segment constructed in the vicinity of the Westgate Las Vegas hotel, underscoring the continuous expansion of the Vegas Loop’s reach across the city.
Construction and Engineering Details
The construction of this 2.28-mile tunnel involved the excavation and removal of approximately 68,000 cubic yards of earth. For efficient material transport, the project utilized about 4.8 miles of continuous conveyor belt system. This system was powered by six motors, collectively generating 825 horsepower.

Prufrock Series TBMs and Vegas Loop Integration
The Prufrock-series tunnel boring machines developed by The Boring Company are all-electric and engineered to facilitate the rapid construction of the company’s underground transportation projects. A key feature of these machines is their capability for easy deployment and retrieval, often referred to as “porposing,” which enhances their reusability and operational efficiency.
Vegas Loop’s Role in Major Events
The Vegas Loop, including its initial segment at the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC) Loop, has proven its utility during significant events. Notably, the LVCC Loop provided transportation services during the 2026 CONEXPO-CON/AGG construction trade show, which took place from March 3rd to March 7th, 2026.
During the CONEXPO-CON/AGG event, the LVCC Loop successfully transported approximately 82,000 passengers throughout the convention center campus over the course of the show.
CONEXPO-CON/AGG Scale and Impact
CONEXPO-CON/AGG is recognized as one of the premier construction trade shows in North America. This year’s event drew a substantial crowd of over 140,000 construction professionals hailing from 128 different countries, highlighting its international reach and importance.
Ongoing Development of the Vegas Loop
The LVCC Loop serves as the foundational segment for the more extensive Vegas Loop network. The Boring Company continues to actively develop and expand this network by constructing new tunnels throughout Las Vegas, aiming to enhance urban mobility and transportation efficiency.
